Where the Reyes name comes from

Reyes is the Spanish word for kings, the plural of rey, and it can be read as royals or royalty just as well. Rey comes down from the Latin rex and regem and behind that an ancient root meaning ruler, the same one that gave Latin its word for a king in the first place. Reis is the Portuguese form of the surname. There is an Arabic reyes too, which means the head of a company or an organisation, so the sense of somebody in charge shows up twice from two directions.
