About the Briefcase design

The case is a wide rectangle with softened corners, and a solid band runs straight across it just below center, broken at the middle by a small square block. Inside that block sits a tiny square opening, the only thing standing in for a lock. The handle above is a squared arch barely a third the width of the case, with corners rounded the same way, so it reads like a staple set on the lid.
