About the Dotted Route design

One end is an open ring, the other a solid disc, and the band between them doubles back twice in wide half circles, once to the right and once to the left. The turns are drawn with the same fat stroke as the straight runs, so the whole route stays one continuous ribbon of steel with no taper anywhere. The solid disc swallows the end of the band completely, while the ring at the top keeps a small round hole at its center, more eyelet than dot.
