About the Fuel Pump design

Steel surrounds two openings stacked in the cabinet, the upper one nearly square and the lower one taller, with a wide solid band of steel closing off the base below them. Off to the right, a diagonal bar drops into a small round hole, then the hose swings out and down in a long narrow U that reaches almost as low as the cabinet itself. That loop hangs looser than anything else in the drawing, bending soft at the bottom while the openings stay squared at every corner.
