About the South America Globe design

The continent fills the right two thirds of a thick circle and grips it in three places, at the top, at the shoulder on the right, and at a narrow tail that comes down to touch the bottom. Nothing curves the way a coastline does: the outline is all blunt straight cuts and rounded corners, with a squared step at the upper left and one soft bulge low on the west flank, like a thumb pressed out of the edge.
