About the sign
One character, cut from a single sheet of steel. The letter C is the whole sign: there is no backing plate and no border, so the shape on the wall is the character itself.
8 Art Deco typefaces to choose from, each measured against the steel at every size offered before it was drawn for sale.

About the Art Deco Letter C design
In most of these faces the C carries nearly all its weight on the left, swelling into a fat crescent while the top and bottom arms thin to hairlines. One cuts that inner edge perfectly straight, leaving a half-disc of steel, and two others cut a slim curved gap into the thick stroke. Elsewhere the letter squares off into a boxy bracket with blunt ends, or stretches into a tall, skinny loop with round tips.
