About the Art Nouveau Letter P design
Most bowls on this P refuse to close the way a plain one would. In one face the bowl rolls inward and stops in a tight curl short of the stem, like a fiddlehead fern, and another tapers its bowl to a hairline that never quite arrives. A third drops the lower stroke in a long diagonal to meet the stem partway down, turning the counter into a sail. Stems flare, taper or lean, and only one face stands on rounded slab feet.
