About the sign
One character, cut from a single sheet of steel. The number 0 is the whole sign: there is no backing plate and no border, so the shape on the wall is the character itself.
Five Art Nouveau typefaces to choose from, each measured against the steel at every size offered before it was drawn for sale.

About the Art Nouveau Number 0 design
Heavy side walls squeeze the zero in two faces, pinching its counter into a slim upright slot while the top and bottom thin to narrow bands. A lighter face keeps that same stress but opens into a tall oval with nearly straight inner sides, and another rounds out into a fuller ellipse of medium weight. The oddest version leans its sides inward toward the top, so the counter narrows into a raindrop shape above a broad, rounded base.
