About the Fish Hook design

Partway down the straight shank, a thick ring swells out on both sides around a small round opening, like a bead the steel swallowed rather than hung off itself. Below that the shank drops on, swings into a deep U and climbs the left side to a point cut off on a blunt diagonal, with no barb and no needle tip. That point rises until it sits level with the ring across the gap, the two facing each other like a clasp left open.
