About the sign
One character, cut from a single sheet of steel. The letter G is the whole sign: there is no backing plate and no border, so the shape on the wall is the character itself.
8 Art Deco typefaces to choose from, each measured against the steel at every size offered before it was drawn for sale.

About the Art Deco Letter G design
Six of the eight pile their weight into the left side of the bowl, a fat black crescent that thins to a hairline as the curve swings right. Two faces cut a slim curved slot inside that crescent, turning the heavy stroke into a double line. The spur changes most: some raise a straight upright post at the jaw, while others sweep a curling crossbar under a slashed tick. The remaining two go tall and narrow in an even pen line, or square off into a wide rounded box.
