About the sign
One character, cut from a single sheet of steel. The letter Q is the whole sign: there is no backing plate and no border, so the shape on the wall is the character itself.
8 Art Deco typefaces to choose from, each measured against the steel at every size offered before it was drawn for sale.

About the Art Deco Letter Q design
Weight gathers on the left of the bowl in most faces, filling out into a black half moon while the right side stays much thinner. One face splits the circle straight down the middle, solid steel on one half and a thin outline on the other. Tails wander widely, from a looping stroke that swings out past the ring to a stubby wedge dropping straight from the base of a squared, barrel-shaped bowl.
